hey there, welcome to the Angelena Atlas! :-))

Angelena Atlas is a spatial & digital network that recontextualizes Los Angeles neighborhoods by sharing intersectional + civic resources online, in print, and in-person

we’re mapping intersectional & civic resources for everyday folks in LA

crowdsourced by Angelene like you 😇

our origin story:

Angelena Atlas was created in response to disappointing election results and the ensuing violation of human and civil rights affecting our communities. Through a series of open meetings and skill share workshops, we began to meditate on the possibilities that cities hold for connection and collaboration.

Los Angeles is a vast urban expanse filled with disparate groups working to create a more inclusive city. The Angelena Atlas is a digital and spatial network that we are in the process of prototyping to connect you to essential civic and intersectional resources. By sharing these local solutions, Angelena Atlas aims to recontextualize Los Angeles neighborhoods and expand access to the built and natural environments, solidarity actions, key policy updates, and shared civic design processes.

As we continue to prototype our maps and website we encourage you to stay connected by clicking through our events list, exploring the people’s glossary, reading up on civic updates, and browsing through open creative calls, and interacting with our community database to find local places to volunteer, donate, and join in your neighborhoods across LA County. We hope to inspire new ways of visualizing and experiencing the intersectional, civic, and cultural landscapes of Los Angeles.
